Anyway, I just tried using an i1 Pro with beta 8 on:

$ uname -a
Darwin bud.trumpetpower.com 9.2.2 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.2: Tue Mar 4 21:17:34 PST 2008; root:xnu-1228.4.31~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

The display window doesn't appear until after calibration. (Calibration is successful.)

Yes, it does have a problem with when it shows the test window. I've
re-worked that bit for the next release.

Dispcal then complains, ``Sample read failed due to communication problem.'' After again pressing the any key, it exits with, ``Bus error.'' OS X then complains that the application unexpectedly quit.

Hmm. 'fraid I haven't seen this one or had it otherwise reported. I can't
reproduce it on my MacBook running 10.5.2 either. There is an
issue closing the i1 pro on 10.5 though. It can be worked around by clicking
the button on the instrument while the software is "hung" after the
message "The instrument can be removed from the screen".

Beta 7 works just fine.

The test window behavior changed as a result of adding the "black background"
option. The i1 driver hasn't changed much though, and the problem closing
the instrument down seems to be due to the differences in how 10.5 threads
interact with the USB sub-system.

Do you need more information?

What rev. of Eye-One is it ?
(It's printed on the label underneath the instrument.)

Try running spotread with the -D flag, and see if it gives
any clues as to where or why communication with the instrument failed.

(My arm's in a sling, else I'd try more stuff first....)

Sounds bad if it's your main typing arm :-)

Hope it's getting better.

I'd basically sit tight until I make the next release,
which should be "real soon now".

cheers,

Graeme Gill.
