For a matrix + single gamma profile (colprof -aG), you need a minimum of 6 
readings:

1) white (RGB 255, 255, 255)

4) gray (RGB 127, 127, 127)

7) Black (0,0,0)

Second, the primaries:

8) red   (RGB 255,0,0)
9) green (RGB 0,255,0)
10) blue  (RGB 0,0,255)


For a cLUT matrix you need a lot more than that.
