Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club! Hi Greg, > Shouldn't that be "C080,25" rather than "CO80,25"? But what is it > supposed to do? I do not know what it looks like on your screen, but it is indeed a letter C and O like in "colour". The command sets the screen mode to "colour", "80 columns" and "25 rows", which is the normal setting for the DOS screen, thereby performing a mode switch and getting rid of the Windows graphics screen. Without it, you are stuck in graphics mode even though you can still enter commands. > There is a problem. After disabling APM in the CMOS setup, exiting > Windows on a shutdown locks up the computer at the "You may now > safely turn off the computer" screen. Are you sure the computer is really locked up and not just locked in graphics mode? Normally, you are already at the DOS prompt again at this point and can type commands, even though you cannot see what you type. Try entering the mode co80,25 command blindly and see if it changes the screen mode. Or try "mode mono" instead to switch it to black and white.
