That's wonderful!

I had a problem with one of my ISPs yesterday, about how kilobits/sec
relates to kilobytes/sec.

He would not believe that the ratio was 10:1 until I pointed out that
each byte of 8 bits needed a start and a stop bit for synchronisation,
making a total of 10 bits per byte.

Sheesh! I was building hardware and software parallel-to-serial
and ser-2-par converters nearly 40 years ago, probably before he was
born. We didn't hear about UARTs until several years later.
