For converting image formats in DOS, I've used Jan Patera's PictView...but it
doesn't create animated GIFs...for that I've only used GIF Animator from
Microsoft on Windows 95, can't remember where I found it, maybe in the old
Power Tools?

If you can stomach Windoze software, there is always Irfanview or Xnview. They
both take
almost any raster image, and can save it as any other of your choice from their
vast list. So
Save As GIF is no problem to either.
