Bastiaan,
That's the same as I've been getting with that apm.
If you don't know if you have a shell account, you
prolly don't have one. SSH is useful for more than
that tho. I just had a use for it two days ago when
I tried to log in to my router from FireFox. I forgot
I had changed my password, and since I use very long
passwords with lots of alphanumeric and special character
digits, I was locked out. Instead of wiping it's memory
and since I use passkeys, I was able to ssh in and recover
my password. A really great place to have a shell account
is http://sdf.lonestar.org. The last I know of it was a
cluster of 13 DEC Alpha four processor enterprise class
computers working as a supercomputer. Lots of scientists
researchers, artists and musicians hang out there and use
it's resources. Lots of computer geeks. SSH can be used in
windows. An excellent client I have used is Putty. There
are FOSS servers that can be used in cygwin, but I think
most windows SSH servers are proprietary, as is most M$
compatible software. Just think of SSH as 'new generation
secure, encrypted and more powerful' Telnet.

Hi All,

I downloaded SSH2DOS and played a while, but all I got was: SSH2DOS
done.

One of the things SSH2DOS is usable for is "a secure login to a shell
account". But do I have a shell account? What is a shell account?

Other use: you have a LAN with two boxes (2 computers?). From your DOS
box to connect to say a Linux box (how about a XP-computer), you are a
user on, do
ssh username@domainname
or
ssh -l username "'IPaddressSuchas' 192.169.1.100"

I tried this but no results, but 'SSH2DOS done'.

A bit confused about the username: user name of the DOS-box or
remote-box?

I did read the readme file... ?????

Do I have to set the SSH2DOS config file and what to administer?

Regards, Bastiaan
