Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club! Yes, I agree - I have often encountered that kind of software. In fact, I have often said that Windows does not seem to have been designed to be usable, but rather to enforce the views of the developers on the users. I also know a famous Open Source DOS that suffers from the same problem, though I will not name it here to avoid another Flame War. However, I have also very often encountered software that the developers do not use themselves, which especially seems to be the case with commercial software. IMO, good software is written by programmers who are perfectionists and always strive to improve it. On the other hand, programmers who accept rather than correct problems with their programs tend to produce software that the users are also unhappy with.
