Thanks, Christof.

Just to clarify a couple of things that weren't clear ...

For question 3, what I wanted to know is _which_ of the two
methods you were using to unload LSPPP.

For question 4, let me explain a little. Most modems have
a bunch of configuration settings which determine how
they behave/react to various conditions. One of those
settings, which most modems use, is the "&D" setting,
which determines how the modem responds to the state
of the DTR signal on their RS-232 port. For example, on
almost all modems, an "AT&D0" command will tell the
modem to ignore DTR. Now, DTR is commonly used to
hang-up a connection, but for this the "&D" setting needs
to be either 1 or 2, depending on the particular modem.
That's why I wanted to know the "&D" setting of the
modem that didn't hang-up properly. Using a terminal
package, (on almost all modems) you can query the most
common settings by sending the command "AT&V" to
the modem (don't forget the <Return> key and don't wait
more than a couple of seconds between key strokes). On
most modems, the settings you will see in response to the
"AT&V" command are the current settings, followed by one
or two "stored" settings (the "AT&W" and "ATZ" commands
can be used to save and retrieve these "stored" settings).

Finally, I forgot to ask before, do you use LSPPP to dial
or do you use something else, such as Miniterm?

Regards,
Joe.
