It got redirected because someone said, I'm paraphrasing, "Why should the ISPs block attachments? Doesn't everyone read bat/exe/jpgs, etc files before they run them?" (only someone who's never seen most people use a pc could say that)
That assumes the normal behavior is for everyone to inspect the files they run. And then someone said, "Some people don't even watch their computers boot up.", still paraphrasing. Again that assumes most people do and only some people don't. In fact that goes a bit further implying watching their computer boot is the least they should do.
It was quite obvious to me this list needed a little reminder that we're not normal. Not one of us. :) My wife would swears she heard me say one time, "Some people think only 10 c64's is enough." 

And then someone added you should also be paranoid about cars :)
My reasoning, while still flawed I suppose, was that it's a silly practice because nowadays the trouble mostly comes from people downloading things and running them and it's too easy to circumvent by renaming the attachments.
I was just being my helpful self in pointing out that if you're going to based an argument on what people do, you have to consider what typical people do. Not people running dos :) I'm too helpful for my own good, really. 

It is normal for discussions on this list to become quite off-topic.
This is known as an Illegal Attachment to the original thread. ;-)
