Jason,
I know what you say above is unfortunately
true. And that is why we get news reports about
people running over babies and pets and bicycles,
etc, etc. when backing out of their driveways. And
many serious, even fatal, accidents that could have
been avoided by a simple walk around the car
inspection before getting into the car. I have stopped
many unwary drivers as they started to leave parking lots
or when stopped at a signal light and let them know
they had a flat tire that they were totally unaware of.
I have known people that drove on a flat tire for so
long that it got so hot that it set their car on fire.
And I have helped people stranded on the X-way with
a flat tire that they unknowingly drove on for so long
that it was so hot that it took at least a half hour for
it to cool down enoughso that one could touch it
to change the wheel. They are too busy to spend the
ten seconds to check. There are enough hazards
after one gets on the road driving so why not
at least start the trip off safely and avoid a lot
of wasted time on the side of the road, broken down.
Eric
