When Arachne reads the address line she tries to find out whether
the input is meant as a search string or as a URL. As soon as the
string contains a dot Arachne considers it to be URL. There is no
doubt that this is more reasonable than expect a "//:" string. Any
way I wonder wether we could overrun it in those cases when dos are
inserted to quotation marks. Are quotation marks legal in URL?
