The criterion for being judged "clever" these days is to have amassed a
large personal fortune, usually by ripping off other people.
Whereas people whose main activity (as a group anyway) is to work on and
refine something that is given away to anyone who wants it are almost
certifiably insane by the usual standards of the world.
