Ray,
You seem to have a consistent problem here, whereas normally
the "clear cache" stuff works fine for me, even when there's a
lot of stuff in the cache. At a guess (can't check just now), I'd
say you clear the cache from within Core.exe as a shell process,
whereas I probably exit to Arachne.bat to do this, so that could
account for the difference.
I did once have a nasty experience of pressing F8 and getting a
lock-up, with file corruption, but that was quite a while ago on a
different system, different version, different packet driver, etc.
