Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!

Here's a suggestion to ANYONE testing a fresch compile
of ANY software...
Create a completely different partition for test purposes,
install your test software there. This simple, but oft
overlooked tip, has saved your's truly countless hours of
reconfiguration! With Arachne "beta" CORE.EXE, I would
try to put temp files, cache and anything else in RAM disk
if possible to minimize corruption. Copy COMMAND.COM to the
new partition, name it ARACHNE_TEST or some such. Then start
the beta version of Arachne with a small BATCH program (
A-BETA.BAT is good), the first line of which makes the copied
version of COMMAND.COM the command interpreter for the test.
Something like a line reading
COMMAND=F:\COMMAND.COM /E1024
Of course, other users have different techniques.
