I've never found any damaged Arachne files except right after a crash. Whenever I run SCANDISK just to check if anything might be damaged, it finds nothing. If I run SCANDISK after a crash it always finds damaged files. Now there may be various possible explanations for the crashes. (modem problem, hardware problem, ISP problem, sunspots, gremlins, a voodoo hex, maybe even an already damaged file) It doesn't matter. What matters to me is that I can readily fix the problem with SCANDISK and be on my way. I just don't have any curiosity about what is causing this very occasional problem. I can fix it in a minute or two and that's that. I could spend hours trying to figure out what's causing the problem and never get to the bottom of it; so why bother? -- Arachne V1.70;rev.3, NON-COMMERCIAL copy, http://arachne.cz/ Arachne at FreeLists -- Arachne, The Web Browser/Suite for DOS and Linux --
