Yes, of course, this is after the crash. Before the crash everything
works just peachy.

Well, Arachne won't run and keeps crashing unless I run SCANDISK
and fix the files. So I'd say the damaged files are causing Arachne
to crash. 

Perhaps Ray's idea is correct regarding an improper shutdown as
the cause of the file damage.

But since I can fix the problem with SCANDISK I've never investigated
further. It being quicker to fix the problem than to worry about
what is causing it.

I already know that Arachne runs normally after SCANDISK has made
repairs. It always does. If I run SCANDISK first then Arachne won't
crash. But I'd have to run it everytime before I start Arachne as
the problem  is very intermittent.

This batch file wouldn't work anyway as SCANDISK asks questions that
require answers when it finds problems. And then has to be
exited manually.
