Thanks for that. I'll look for it next time I'm on line.

Yeah, maybe two ignoramouses together can find a solution <G>

Yes, but these same aspects would also apply to running under MS-DOS.
Would there be any differences? I don't know. But if there are, why
haven't other users had the same troubles?

The blind leading the blind.

I don't know.

What happens? Nothing that I can see. The downloads stay just as slow,
and occasionally time out. Nothing (except the download) freezes up.

Aha!

Yes, that's what I have had, except that I have had then freeze for over
2 minutes. Is that perhaps related to my slow serial port speed? It
doesn't seem as though it should be.

I'll try that.

Now I can't remember the reason why I changed over to LSPPP.
Unfortunately I haven't kept all the old messages so I can't trace back.

Hmmm... I was trying to give it a fair trial. Maybe it has already had
long enough to show its colours...

But if I go back to MS-DOS, I have to put up with the oddities that
happen when there are forbidden character in the message subject line,
as the later versions of INSIGHT.EXE that fix these problems also lock
me out of doing a Modify of messages in the Outbox, when running under
MS-DOS.
