Wiz,

I think a better solution would be a switch which disconnects your
computer with a high speed connection--the equivalent of disconnecting
the cable. You can't be a zombie if you are not connected.

The users cannot be relied on to do anything--but a mandated switch
for home users might help.

I routinely unplug my phone line to the computer because I don't
trust Windows--who knows what might be lurking. I do not want the
computer to dial up it's own updates at 4 AM because who knows what
else it might be prompted to do by some virus, worm, or bot that has
escaped notice.
