Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
Bastiaan, (and others!)
It would surprise you the way in which I have my MSDOS.SYS
modified!! I have it setup to display a menu of choices at time
of bootup. I can choose to boot the Win95 GUI, or in Safe Mode,
Safe Mode with Network support, DOS Command line with or
without network support or command prompt safe mode...
at one time I even had an option to boot into my previous
version of DOS...you can edit MSDOS.SYS manually with
a plain text editor (note that you must remove the read only
attribute prior to changing, then set it back when finished) or
there are a few tools, freeware, that help to automate the
editing!
As for not needing to reboot to restart Windows...I know that
as well...did you know that with Win9X, you can click Start,
then Shutdown, then Restart Computer...now hold the shift key
down, and instead of a cold reboot, only Windows will restart!
How's that for a Win95 Tip from the Wiz!! By the way...I have a
little utility to automate this as well...it works for Windows 3.1 too!
C U L8R!
