I suppose you followed the discussion on Arachne's mailing list where
I described my experiences of the last two weeks. They are quite 
dependent on my specific hardware (PCMCIA cards) and the LAN 
configuration.

This was my starting point, too. I did not find any usable driver at 
the link given on Arachne mailing list, but read a bit of 
documentation from that site. Then I continued with Google. 

Basically there are two main problems: 

1) How to initialize your wi-fi card
------------------------------------

The only wireless card I could get to work so far is 
an Avaya card using the driver wvlan42.com. The older 
the card the more probable, that you can use it with DOS. 

Which card do you want to use? Can you install it in Linux? 

2) How to connect to the internet
---------------------------------

My neighbour is connected to the internet and runs a dhcp server
on his local network. I connect can connect to this server and use 
his address as a gateway. Here, the settings in the WATTCP.CFG
configuration file are critical. They can be tested with ping.exe. 
If that works, also Arachne will be able to connect. The 
settings in arachne.cfg will only be the last step. 

What kind of gateway do you want to use? Have you ever had a 
wifi connection to the internet with a different operating system?
