Of course one would not be able to access an XP machine's hard drive by booting to DOS with a floppy drive, but I would think that one should be able to create a ram drive in an XP machine where one could run DOS programs in real DOS mode. I cannot investigate this on my own because I don't have access to an XP machine whose owner will let me experiment with it.
