Yes, I don't understand it too :-) Because it is possible to write
32-bit protected mode programs. Using this, using all new drivers and
software I can say you that the world of DOS has changed. And this
world is cool - DOS launches very fast and it is possible to copy and
edit files, play mp3s/ogg/videos etc. You can also run some programs
of windows under DOS, can also easily port many Linux tools and DOS
programs run under Windows (DOSBOX) and Linux (DOSEMU) too.

Entonces: Old DOS is dead yes, pero newer DOSes like FreeDOS or
Enhanced Dr-DOS lives. (with latest JEMM from Japheth is possible
develope 32-bit protected mode drivers. 2 examples: XCDROM32, XDMA32)
