There is a point in running DOS and Arachne: in every day practice one will not catch a virus, worm or other nasty animals. This concerns especialy the e-mail handling in DOS. There is no special point in using a high powered modern machine but sooner or later you have to use a modern machine, just because your 20th century model became beyond repair. New users will use new modern machines... and WE have to tell them how to install DOS on those new machines and how to get DOS running. Where to get drivers for modems, printers, USB, PCMCIA, fire wire or whatever auxilary will be invented or added to our computers? How to live without serial (RS232) or parallel (PRN) ports? Can we cope???
