You mean the XP-machine should be the server and Arachne the client (?)
When I use a direct cable connection between the 2 computers, be it FX
(DOS) or Windows Commander I have to make one computer the 'client' (=
the machine I working on) or let me say 'the master'.
The other machine must be the 'server' or the 'slave'.
Networking in Win is about the same, but I need not to appoint one of
the machines the server or the client... the client is the machine I
start the action from. The server becomes automaticaly the other
machine.
So why should not Arachne be the client... the machine I am working on?
That means why not use Arachne to ask for files on 'a' other machine via
the network and store them in any place within the machine on which
Arachne is running?
Or... write any file to the other machine with Arachne?
There is a 'network ikon' in Arachne. What is the use of it?

As we have a 'client' on the DOS machine (Arachne) it would make sense
to run the 'server' on the win-machine.
