Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
I subscribed to the a4dos list because the Arachne website is
outdated and I wanted to get information on the current state of the
Arachne web browser. I also subscribed to the Arachne list at
Freelists because it has better mailing list features and because I
did not want to miss any important news about Arachne development. I
now realize that reading two different lists just to get information
on the state of Arachne takes a lot more time than I want to spend.
The time has come to choose one or the other.
The a4dos list contains a high percentage of off-topic posts that
have absolutely nothing to do with Arachne. I realize that there are
people on a4dos who were on the old Arachne list for a long time and
enjoy chit-chatting and flaming each other. That is all well and good,
but things get way too personal for those who are just curious about a
piece of software. I am not comfortable recommending the a4dos list to
people who simply want to know where they can get information about
the Arachne web browser.
Hopefully there will soon be an "official" homepage for the GPL
version of Arachne. Hopefully, it will be at a site dedicated to
software development, or at least a site where it will show
prominently in a Google search.
Until then, I urge anyone with information about the state of
Arachne and Arachne development to post it to the Arachne list at
Freelists. Informative posts about Arachne are what "newbies" are
looking for. One can view the archive at Freelists if one does not
want to subscribe to a mailing list. This cannot be done with the
a4dos list.
This is the one and only message that I have posted to both
lists. This will be my final post to the a4dos list.
