Mel,
Hmm, interesting...say, are you by any chance booting
into the "default" Windows GUI on 98? If so, are you then
looking at the DOS memory in a "DOS Box" while Windows
is running? If the answer is "Yes", then I suggest you boot
only to the DOS command prompt. Easiest way to do this
is to press the F8 key when the computer is first starting...
to make a permament solution, I recommend using some
sort of utility, such as TweakUI, to handle editing the MSDOS.SYS
file to enable the "Boot Menu", where you can give yourself
some time at startup to choose to boot into the Windows GUI
or otherwise!! I use TweakUI for Windows 95...there is a
seperate version for 98...another utility is named XSetup...
not sure if the one I have will work with 98, but it should...
