That is very possible!

If you do a Ctrl-Alt-Del, this will clear the disk cache immediately,
and you can then power down safely.

Or add the line SMARTDRV /C to the end of the ARACHNE.BAT file to
flush the cache immediately as you exit Arachne.

You're lucky that the files are still repairable.
