Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
Hi all!
Some time ago, one of the people on my beta testers' list told me that
SpamAssassin, a popular anti-spam filter software, had apparently
marked one of my test releases as spam. More interesting than this fact,
however, was the attached list of the reasons why SpamAssassin thought
that my email was spam - see below.
The most spectacular of these, of course, is that 74% of the 5 points
needed for SpamAssassin to move the mail to the bit bucket are assigned
because the header that Arachne had created was regarded as typical of
bulk emailers. So basically, this means that either SpamAssassin has
Arachne on its black list or that email headers generated by Arachne
indeed bear a striking similarity to those generated by spam mailing
software. Whatever the reason, this definetely hurts the Arachne
community, either by mails written by Arachne users being deleted before
the recipient has a chance to read them, thereby making Arachne appear
as unreliable, or by making the Arachne users themselves appear as
spammers.
Regards,
Udo
