Trojan Horses are mainly used to get the malware onto Windows machines to transform them into bulkmail relays, but the type of connection of those machines is irrelevant. It is probably 1000 times easier to pick up a virus-infested file in a download then to encounter a hacker who is bored enough to hack his way into some poor Windows using fool's machine to upload malware. I guess it may be possible to also use this approach to start a DDoS attack against a web forum, but spammers are generally not interested in doing this because they *want* users to access the forum and read their crap, and probably follow the links to their web sites so they get paid for all the unwilling "visitors" clicking on their ads.
