FWIW, this was the earlier message :

Hi Sam,

Are you saying the attached text file "hj7a8001.txt"
*was* base64 encoded??? I thought that now (at last),
this problem had been overcome (our IT people have
recently upgraded that Symantec firewall stuff). I
thought/hoped the message body was now in plain text,
so that the average reader would be able to actually
read it. Can you please clarify?
