Third option: just adopt my sources, merge in any outstanding functionality,
and reap the benefits in speed, free memory etc. The old code can simply
be put to arachive use. It would save several years of work doing
what I've done all over again.

Udo, we should postpone any talk of 'broken versions' until you try
the next one, I'm sure it will work. And no, I did not do any such
thing deliberately, it's just the natural evolution toward a more
normal C style, along with countless optimizations.

Or maybe not, you did say you'd try my distro again, I hope you do,
and I'm sure you'll like it. If you do, then perhaps you'll consider
using the src that built it just as it is. If you do, it won't be
long until you no longer care about the old sources at all.
