There was a bug in there, I'm pretty sure I've got it fixed.
You have been using a rather old core, we have to be sure of
your distro before updating it. Did you get one of Glenn's
releases from cisnet, or one of mine from tripod? I'd suggest
updating to the lastest distro at cisnet, but if you want,
I can just email you a new core.

As to translating, you must do it within the C sources. You can
grab full sources at cisnet, however, if you want, I can just
send you the correct file, and rebuild it for you after you
edit it. The English file is 'mess-eng.c' and 'mess-rus.c'
for Russian. mess-dch.c I guess for German?
