Sigh. I wish somebody would tell these people that those 640K are no
longer a limitation of DOS but rather of the software written for it.

DOS programs can use more than 640K for at least 20 years now, but it
seems it is much easier to change DOS than the opinion of those people
on it.

That is exactly why I started the DPMI port. Perhaps it is time to take
it out of the mothballs again.

BTW, I remember that when I bought my first 486, many of my friends
still had a 286, and in the computer stores the 386SX was just slowly
replacing the 25 MHz "turbo" 286 machines. There is no doubt that the
fact that the 286 was faster than an 386 with the same clock speed and
few programs supported 386 instructions influenced this.

Nowadays people throw away their perfectly working 1 GHz Pentium III
machines simply because they are not fit for Windows Vista.
