addresses are as such-
modem/router=192.168.1.1
WINcomputer=192.168.1.100
DOScomputer=192.168.1.102
You can't just-
#>telnet 192.168.1.100 port 23
from IP 192.168.1.102 to IP 192.168.1.100
or vice versa? Or ping either way?

and more than justa little confused by your posts. Are
you using a router on dialup?
I use a router and an ethernetcard. The ethernetcard is installed by
autoexec.bat that installs the driver: RTSPKT.EXE at 0x60
I had to use windows to find out the numbers for NameServer, Gateway and
Netmask (and a little help of Glennmcc).
In principle I now could dial-in (activate the build in ADSL-modem) but
that modem needs JavaScript commands... :-(
For some time I used windows to open the connection with a second
computer... not nice but this way it was possible to use Arachne.
A few month of thinking and experimenting were needed to solve the
JavaScript problem. In the 420 page documentation of the router/modem
the commands are discriped... and could be given in plain text by
telnet.
Another month to sort out EXACTLY how to do it with help of a friend
with more programming nowledge than i have...
In Arachne Connect is left blank so she thinks I am already on line.
A connect.bat that plays the telnet script is used to activate the
modem.
Functions very well in DOS and much faster than the connection in WinXP.
There is still one thing to solve... the router cann't be used to
connect to the other computer. Not in DOS, not with Arachne.
(Windows98 does it, same computer)
How to set up the network?
Also can't you just use
Bootp or DHCP between your computer and router? Or
even static addresses? Couldn't you just load an ethernet
card and driver, and stay always on between the router and
computer? Couldn't autoexec.bat load a NIC driver?
The com ports at the computer are not used... just the RJ-45 jack on the
ethernet card.
Are you using a com program? Sorry for all the questions.
I tried running Arachne in dosemu and tried to connect to
my router with no luck, but I really didn't spend any
time trying before I gave up. Wondering how you did it.
