That is right... but if you see in Arachne Alt233 as é (e+/) than Arachne shows for ascii code 233 the é as in code table 850. But in code table 437 (Extended IBM) code 233 renders a Greek symbol looking a bit like the diametre symbol. (My QEDIT uses 437 character set and 437 is in the config.sys of the PC.
