I've tried again with a fresh download, installed into an empty C:\arachne. With experimentation I discovered that if I place the cursor where the editing field ought to appear and click I now get a two line editing field--which I think is almost useless in terms of actually doing any writing. I do realize that I can make the editing space larger by following the directions in the source. But shouldn't the editing space just be there when needed? Before it was always just there. Now it only appears after I move the cursor into posistion and click. That's confusing. And why only two lines as the default? Sam I believe that I've fixed the environment problem as per your previous note. I was using 512, not 1024. But that never caused a problem with previous Arachne versions.
