Does this mean that beginning with the next version, Arachne will
automatically put all downloads into the DOWNLOAD directory instead of
asking the user where to put them? I hope not, because that would mean
it would be totally unusable! I definetely would not like having to go
through the whole list of downloads every time I download something and
move it to its destination manually or go to the local settings page and
change it every now and then; I already find it hard enough to keep
track of the files I download with the current requester!

I really rely on this feature, so please do not remove it, Glenn!

I would rather like to see it enhanced by having a file requester that
shows the available files and sub directories and lets the user pick one
with a mouse click, like in the Netscape Navigator.

I once told Michael Polak that if there was one feature that would be
more important to me than SSL and Javascript support, it would be a good
file requester. I hardly ever download files to the default download
directory, since it is almost always the wrong one. Without the ability
to select on the fly where a file should go, Arachne would be too
awkward and involved for me to use it. I also like the ZIP preview
feature and would like to keep it; I often use it to view the contents
of ZIP files to decide whether I should save them.

If somebody wants to skip the download page, that's fine with me, but it
should not become the default option. No other browser I know puts files
into the download directory automatically, and that is so for a good
reason.

Udo
