That is horribly complicated. Much easier to click on "Modify" after
step 8 above, then when the edit/compose screen opens, click on
"External Editor".

On exiting the editor, make sure the file is saved as "textarea.tmp" and
the edited message should apear in arachne's edit/compose screen. At
that stage you can click on "Send mail now" or on "Send to Outbox" if you
want to send it later.
