Not necessarily. I use a PCMCIA Ethernet card in my notebook with
just a special 'enabler' program which assigns interrupt, I/O and
memory address (the card needs 4 Kb of address space). I think I
would need Card and Socket services if I wanted to use two cards
simultaneously.
