[arachne] Offtopic -- DOS software needed.

I enclose the following message from the sysop of the bulletin
board I frequent.

I know it is off-topic, but can anyone help with his problem of
finding a suitable CHECKDISK/SCANDISK and a DEFRAG?

An email directly to me would be better than posting a reply to
the list.

... and I guess he means a 40-gig hard disk....

Hi All, I hope the board remains stable.  I am keeping my fingers crossed as
it now has a 40meg hardisk drive - I had to get a DOS from Russia that
supports the large drives.  However the problem is I can not dind a
CHKDSK/SCANDISK or DEFRAG that supports large drives from DOS.  I have been
told that Norton's did one in 1997 but it no longer exists.

The message base has been purged and I kept the echo packets from the last two
days so you may get some duplicates.

The BBS now runs in Garry's bedroom as the former computer room is now
occupied by his new ladies children.  Annie Brown is now living at Garry's and
she has complained about the clanging of hard disk drives waking her up every
morning at 6:30am as it tosses the mail - so by request the mail tossing has
been moved back to 8am so I hope it doesn't cause any inconvenience. So don't
log on until after 8:15am if you want the latest mail.
