The problem is, how to display the UTF-8 code, when you are done.
In DOS, the by far best way to display them it Arachne ;-). But
all Arachne can do at the moment, is translate UTF-8 to 8bit
again. At least she has the common European fonts (ISO-8859-1,
ISO-8859-2 and Cyrillic) at hand.

I downloaded the source and (was surprised that) it compiled without
problems on my system. Fonts were not part of the download. Most
contemporary Linux distributions use Unicode as a default, but have
fonts of different value. E. g. some fixed fonts have only ASCII
or ISO-8859-1 some have certain subset of Unicode. That means they
can cope with Russian, and accented Latin characters, may be even
with Greek and Arabic, but the do not contain Asian glyphs.

I think the basic idea - support the cooexistence of several
international languages in a small editor - is quite interesting.
Has anybody tried to run Midnight Commander with fixed unicode fonts?
