Very good news - it seems that Micro$oft has at last come around to
realizing that they must suck up to the open source community, or
else go out of business:

That is from 2006, and has been greeted with a great deal of suspicion and
scepticism by the FOSS community. From what I can gather, it is considered
more of a threat to open source than any kind of support. Open source people
don't seem to trust Microsoft's intentions at all, and the feeling seems to be
that it is a way to infiltrate the open source community, bluff the Linux
community (with some success already) into signing various agreements with M$
which seem to imply there is something in M$'s claims of patent infringement,
and to look after M$'s interests generally.

Remember, the Billy Goat is out of it now, and Steve Ballmer is in control of
Microsoft !
Does anybody on this list trust Steve Ballmer ?

It's the same strategy of "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish", that M$
has been using for years. They're not giving in to anything in the
OpenSource community. Remember they are masters of the 'Fear Factor'.
