Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
I think I have come up with a way to stop UCE/UBE before it ever hits
the mail server HDDs, without fear of trashing otherwise valid e-mail.
The two methods I've come up with wouldn't stop ALL the spam out there,
but would make a very sizeable dent ... and do it without sending
anything back into the net (i.e. no clogging of backbones and/or
intermediate servers).
I don't do Linux, I haven't a hope in hell with Apache (80% of web
servers out there are now running Apache according to figures I've
seen). But I have the ideas, and I think I'm competent to make those
ideas clear and work with competent person (persons) to develope the
code to run the filters.
So I'm asking all of you to start networking, to find a person, or
people, who know Apache mail servers, know Linux, and can get code
written (themselves, or someone they know/work with).
Anything produced would, of course, be GPL'd.
I don't know about you, but I would love to be known as "One of the
people who pulled off the trick of the century, making spammers give
it up as a lost cause, while protecting the network itself." <G>
What's the worst that could happen? It could get nowhere, it could die
because the networking in these groups just doesn't reach far enough.
What the second worst thing that could happen? People laugh and point
their fingers at us, and call us nuts! [Wait a minute ... don't they
already do that cuz we're DOSasaurs??]
Deadly serious about this,
l.d.
