To Jason:

I don't think linux is the next generation OS either. But neither is
windows or macos. And most definitely DOS isn't. But linux is the best
choice imo for several reasons. License, foss, and the fact that *nix is
more mature than windows are just a few. Unless there is some change in
OS direction I think *nix will be the OS of the near future generation
more and more.

Not for me, though. For me, the next-generation OS will be a 32-bit DOS
like the one I am working on. The only thing that makes me endure Linux
is that it is only a temporary condition.

What is your project? I currently use about a dozen OSs and am always happy to try out another one.

To Steve:

Whatever, I'm no evangelist. If you're happy within the constraints of
Windows/DOS, happy trails.

No, I am not happy with the constraints of Windows and DOS, nor with the
ones of Linux; that was the prime reason for starting my project. Of
course, I would never expect that someone who never used DR-DOS
understands that.

A little narrow sighted to think anyone on this board hasn't used dr-dos. A more insighted guess would be most, in not all, of us have. You'd have a better chance if you'd have said something like cp/m. But then again I'm guessing a good many on this board has used that, too. I can't be the only one.
