Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!
Hi!
Interesting discussion here...BUT, you are on the Arachne mailing list,
Arachne is mainly a DOS browser. You should instead discuss, how the
browser could be improved... and not, that you would only use Linux ;-)
Bye
Flo
YOU tell me that anyone who does not like Unix either has not spent
enough time using it or simply does not like good operating systems, and
then you dare to talk about ignorance?!
That's not what I wrote, but I'm beginning to see how your mental
filters work.
I simply turned *your* argument against you by stating that you probably
do not know DR-DOS, since you are using Unix. Think about this for a
while before answering again.
I don't see your point.
I started out with MS-DOS 3.0 and MS-DOS 3.3 for several years at
work, and then MS-DOS 5.0 at home for about a year. Then I used NOTHING
BUT DR-DOS, Novell-DOS, OpenDOS, and DR-DOS from then on until I
discovered I like 'nix better. It all adds up to over a decade of using
NOTHING BUT DOS, over 4 years of which were the non-MS variety.
How many years did you use NOTHING BUT a *nix?
If you want to claim DOS does everything you need it to, I simply
point out that you're in denial. You use *nix everyday, much as you
hate to admit it.
LOL! I see you host your site on Apache. 'Nuf said.
??
And what would you mean by that? It is not my server the site is on, and
I have no control over the software they are running.
Of course you do. Host your website on your own computer... on DOS.
Or failing that, find a webhost who does run a DOS webserver. If you
would walk the walk, the talk would be a lot more credible.
Isn't it kind of hypocritical to blast Linux as an inferior OS, and
then turn around and hire a webhost who hosts you on Linux?
I learned from first-hand experience that most Linux users apparently
cannot stand someone using a non-Unix OS, no matter which one, and will
do just about anything to "convert" him to "their" OS. You have only
confirmed this.
I don't really consider myself a Linux user, since I mainly use
FreeBSD, but for the record, let me say this: Please stick to DOS if it
meets all your desktop needs, but please stop trying to say it meets ALL
of your computing needs when it clearly doesn't.
Well, like I told you before, I already know Linux and
therefore it will not work.
Cool. Linux will not work. 20 million+ users notwithstanding. Use
whatever floats your boat. I get the idea you think I'm trying to
convert you. I'm not. As a matter of fact, I hope you never put Linux
on one of your computers again. I would also entreat you never to try
FreeBSD. You'll hate it even more than Linux.
If the Linux developers were actively trying to improve Linux and work
on eliminating its weaknesses, then perhaps it could become almost as
good as DR-DOS.
Because obviously DOS is so superior that people are using it to run
mail servers, web servers, news servers, MySQL databases, writing
programs in php, python, ruby, and everything else they need in their
day-to-day computing tasks, right? I only see one person here trying to
convince himself that a DOS is the "superior" OS... even as he hosts his
website on Linux/Apache...
