Tell that the Linux advocats who have invaded this mailing list. ;-) Well, actually, I never said anything else; I just wanted to explain why *I* do not like Linux. >> and of course, the inability to run PC software other then in >> an emulator - > I'm pretty sure that most of the world considers windows > programs to be PC programs. Well, most Windows users definetely do. But then, they would probably call anything that has a Microsoft OS on it a PC. Some people even call Macs PCs. ;-) > Does the dos of the future run winnt or win98 programs? Yes, probably. I do not plan to add a native Windows mode, but others have already written Windows emulations for DOS that work. For example, look at the HX project at http://www.japheth.de . I once planned to add compatibility for running Win 4.0 in Enhanced DR-DOS, but since Microsoft keeps its WinHooks interface a secret, that approach is not practical. However, I think of continuing my Wine for DOS project once the OS will be able to support the system calls that are needed. Also, perhaps I add support for loading PE binaries since that has become a popular format for DOS extended programs as well.
