Mel,

Something else I just remembered!  The exact path to your EMM386.EXE
might NOT be C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND, sometimes "setup" will place
EMM386.EXE in the C:\WINDOWS folder/directory.  If this is the case,
just change the line you added to load EMM386 to reflect your path:

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS

In either case, once you have booted into plain DOS mode,
do a MEM/c/p and make sure EMM386 is indeed loaded and active!
