Thanks for the replies. Up to now I have tried Pedit.
Pedit does indeed have a useful macro facility, though limited to 60
key strokes.
It has some other goodies:
Copy and paste text between Arachne (with Pedit as external editor)
and Windows applications. This is a convenient as I sometimes use
Arachne in a Win95 DOS box.
Copy/cut/paste *columns* of text within a document.
Use Windows printer drivers to print your files from Arachne/Pedit.
(haven't tried this)
