See another message for the problem with email.
The method I have been using, of splitting the file and transferring by
floppies, is the fastest method that works, of any I have tried so far.
The only problem is when I get a bad floppy that can't be read at the
receiving end. But since I use ARJ for splitting the files, every
section has a unique extension, ARJ for the first, then A01, A02, etc.
So it is no problem to copy the bad one again from the sourcing
computer, using another disk than the bad one, and transfer it.
And the whole job is done for a 50+ Mb file in a LOT less time than it
would take me to open the two computer boxes and move the HDD from one
to another and back again after the transfer was finished.
Memory sticks are a much better way to go. Now if I only had a USB port
on the DOS comp.... hmmmm... maybe it is possible to find a USB card.
I'll look into it once I get the Ethernet working.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
