[arachne] Hotlist limits

Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!

I seem to be the only person who has run into a limit in the
number of items in Arachne's hotlist.

Joe da Silva has been looking into the possible cause and it
seems to be linked to a memory allocation in the hotlist manager
in CORE.EXE.

But it is surprising that no-one else is having this problem.

Do other users not have many items in their hotlists?

Could readers of this message please post the following
information:

(a) the number of bytes used by the HOTLIST.HTM file; and

(b) the number of items in the hotlist; this is one greater than
the number shown against the final item by the hotlist
    manager.

Using a specially modified version of CORE.EXE from Joe, my
hotlist now overloads at 34,114 bytes and 378 items.

Previous cores limited it to about 16,000 bytes and about 195 items,
depending on the length of the lines for each item.

The limit seems to be imposed by the amount of memory allocated
for re-assembling the new hotlist file.

Thanks.

Greg M.
